Issue 26 Articles

Foreword

Welcome to our new issue where we will be exploring new avenues opening up for the industry. We are delighted to be working with IBC, www.ibc.org, looking at the massive crossover that occurs now between Telecoms and Broadcast. As many in the industry are already supplying iPTV and VoD services, it is a step forward to be providing national and specialised content to the vast number of subscribers within our networks. IBC is the largest event in Broadcast and brings over 50,000 delegates to Amsterdam every September, it is a must visit now for the industry.

We seem to have reached the point of maturity with IoT, we have articles from the IPv6 Forum and M2M Forum on where we are with new standards and deployment issues; to back that up from an industry perspective we have an interesting article from Norwegian company Teleplan Globe.

If some of our readers are picking this issue up at TM Forum Live! in Nice, which many of you do, we have an interesting article from Carl Piva of the TM Forum, on Smart Cities: where this is going and how the Forum are helping to educate in this area. In this digitalized era it’s also good to read an article from Infonova on how this funnels down to individuals and choice and monetisation, with a little clap from the CFO’s.

The ITU’s latest report on the state of the industry leads the journal with some very interesting points on new technology deployment, this report is free to recognised industry media and journalists, see: www.itu.int.

I would also like to thank Robin Mersh and Rob Rich for their input, as always.

Enjoy this webportal. Safe travels and if you have any comments, good or bad, please email me.
